Have a look in your event log. There could be an explanation there as to why you are not getting downloads. Something like because you have too many uploads to do. Mike |

Boinc is designed so you can run more than one project in case another project has problems. Everybody is entitled to have the time off

I had one device with some stuck uploads that when I retried several times would upload to 100% but then not disappear off my Transfers tab.
I shut down an restarted my BOINC client, and the stuck uploads completed OK on the first retry. |

Seems from my end the upload problems are getting a lot better as i am not having any problems now uploading completed workunits.

Seems from my end the upload problems are getting a lot better as i am not having any problems now uploading completed workunits. Probably due to far fewer ARP workunits uploading/downloading. WUprop showed 3,000 at peak, now 100. https://wuprop.boinc-af.org/active_projects.py Paul.

The problem is not ARP alone, it's the combination of ARP and OPNG. When the problem was at the worst yesterday, and the day before, we had both ARP, and an enormous amount of OPNG, hundreds of thousands of OPNG tasks. I was literally swamped with OPNG tasks. More than half of yesterdays 423,761 Open Pandemics returned tasks, are likely OPNG tasks, the rest OPN1 with very small uploads. ARP only had in total 5,385 results returned.
----------------------------------------One ARP upload is about 100 MB over severeal files, but an ARP task takes hours to crunch. Each OPNG only takes minutes to crunch, and the upload is two files, one about 400-500+ KB, and the other 2.5+ MB. So, the system can handle ARP only, or OPNG only, but not ARP and tons of OPNG tasks at the same time. Of course it can also handle ARP , MCM, and OPN1 at the same time, or OPNG, MCM, and OPN1 at the same time, but never as it is now ARP and OPNG at the same time. When will they learn to phase in large batches?

When will they learn to phase in large batches? Until they fix this issue, if it was me, I would make sure to never release ARP and OPNG tasks at the same time. For example, run ARP, MCM, OPN1, SCC, for 2 days, then run OPNG, OPN1, MCM, SCC, for 2 days. Rinse and repeat. I bet that would solve the upload problem, until they can fix whatever bottlenecks they have in the system. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Grumpy Swede at Apr 10, 2023 2:20:46 PM] |

For what its worth, it seems that something was done, when I just checked a few of my hosts first thing in the morning, I didn't see any with stuck uploads right now. One is crunching the last of the batch of OPNGs it got yesterday evening/afternoon, as well as a lot of OPN1 and MCM1 _2, _3 and _4 resends. Got a whole 5 ARP WUs, with one already returned but sitting in PVa jail, so can't tell WCG stopped sending out ARP1/OPNG WUs, and they ain't talking... ![]() Ralf ![]() |
