Truncated texts in BOINC Manager

I saw alanb1951 (Al) posting this in message 683934:
on my Linux BOINC 7.20 client the texts are truncated so it just says "Use at" and "% of CPU" :-)

I'm having a similar problem in the BOINC Manager on Fedora Linux,
— although it correctly displays (a) "Use at most" and "% of the CPUs" and (b) "Use at most" and "% of CPU time" —
at the bottom it displays the truncated texts:
(1) "Store at least" and "days of" (the word "work" is missing there) and
(2) "Store up to an" and "days of" (the words "additional" and "work" are missing there).

I seem to recall installing some more fonts and experimenting with the settings in Fedora 36/37 before the missing words (in cases a and b) finally were produced.
