shock BOINC device activation code?

Hi!

DANG! This is in the wrong thread, but I couldn't find better!!!!

I have just started with WCG and installed the device on my work'puter (like that was allowed! NOT!). It's working like a charm, counting the packets while I'm off my desk.

Then I went and decided to install BOINC to my home 'puter and as I was activating the WCG client in the BOINC, it occurred to me that I had somehow lost the welcome email containing the account code!

Question is, is it possible to get the code from/through the WCG site or do I have to set up another account?

Yours

Jorma

Re: BOINC device activation code?

Jorma --

Take a look at the thread in the Linux Support Forum at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=4383. About the third post from the end by World Community Grid Tech Uplinger discusses this. If the instructions do not help, post in that thread because it will likely be seen by those best able to help with Linux issues.

Best regards,

You can find your BOINC account key at the bottom of this page:

https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/viewMyProfile.do

Let us know if this is what you were looking for.

thanks,
Kevin

Re: BOINC device activation code?

Thanks Kevin, though there is NO account key at the bottom of the page you proposed! The acct key was found through the link

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/viewDownload.do

which you gave in the thread that Lewis suggested.

Thank you both. Now WCG is running in BOINC with Einstein!

Jorma

EDIT: another DANG! BOINC sent the request to WCG but the server returned
Message from server: platform 'windows intel_x86' not found

and so it doesn't compute... The system just states that "Communication deferred:..."

so?

Re: BOINC device activation code?

Hello Jorma,

Well, this explains why you asked a BOINC question in Website Support instead of Linux Agent Support. Currently, we are running the BOINC distributed computing agent in Linux and the United Devices distributed computing agent in Windows. You tried to run BOINC in Windows, which we are not set up to handle. We just started with BOINC this month and are slowly working our way into it.
