Cyclops, I presume that the recovery of download times is due to the servers running out of ARP1 units. Hi Mike, the workunits you're referring to are still stuck but members of the team have expressed interest in looking into this issue further. Now that you have cleared out those delayed units, will you be attempting to restart the extreme and accelerated units that have been stuck for some time. IBM managed to get previously stuck units going again by reducing the timestep from 36 seconds to 24 seconds. This applies especially to the 3 units stuck in generations 14, 16 & 17, otherwise known as ultra extremes. Mike Cyclops, Hi bfmorse, I believe your device is also being used as a test case since you gave us express permission and you should have gotten an email reply saying as much. They are actively working on it but as far as I know they don't have anything newsworthy enough to share with the community right now. Thanks for asking, I did start crunching at the beginning of January. My progress isn't available yet since I asked the tech team to use my device as a testing ground to solve the ongoing missing devices/results situation. Have they made any progress on our systems, as you may recall one of my recently added systems has also been volunteered for the same purpose. |

I hope that they do more than express an interest. Those units are now 129 generations behind the leaders. They will probably take at least 4 months to catch up to where the leaders are now, but more likely 6 months. Meanwhile, the leaders would probably just about finish, so the ultras would probably take another 2 months to finish. However, it is likely that whatever conditions prevail in those patches will cause other generations to stick, delaying the process even more. Mike |

Hi!
It seems that it's more than pure interest, I've spotted that the ultra extreme Gen.14 has moved to Gen.15 and Gen. 17 has moved to Gen. 18😯😍 Thank You Cyclops ! Hans S. |

Many thanks! I do hope they keep getting sent out now as they are so far behind the others. Mike |

My computer received 36 ARP1-tasks at 19:30 UTC plus another 9 at 19:38 UTC. They were all resends from generation 136 and downloaded fine without any HTTP error within 20 minutes.
There is obviously less strain on the server. Since 26 January I didn't see any HTTP error, until today (29 January) at 19:00 UTC (I saw 6 HTTP errors at that time and that was all for the day), which is exactly six days after the release of this batch of ARP1-workunits and — as many of us will know — these 6 days are the deadline. Ergo, many tasks didn't meet the deadline - they didn't manage to find dry land in time, so to speak. But then, there are vessels and lifeboats to save those that fell in the water … ![]() Adri |

The major strain on Krembil systems is when the initial batch goes out. The re-sends are a lower quantity so don't create the same strain.
The re-sends have been slowly released since then as the 6 days is gradually up. Mike |

so if they were to throttle harder... no more need for autoclickers?

Releasing in smaller quantities would mean the bigger machines scooping more of the units so less for the smaller machines. However, probably fewer "No Reply" .

I really wonder why there's no 1 task per thread assignment limit on ARP. It just sounds so obvious... more fairly distributes tasks among users, decreases the chances of getting too many tasks a PC can't finish in time (I'm looking at you, first installation machines) and it reduces issues with computers going idle because files aren't downloaded in the right order. Am I missing something? ![]() Want to have an image of yourself like this on? Check this thread: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,29840 |
