Yeah, I wouldn't want to try running one on a Pi 3, but an Ampere or an M1/M2 Mac would be a different story. ARM is growing up. ARM already beats legacy architectures in many ways, just not obvious to consumers. I'm not sure about this, Ampere simply has a lot of cores which are not particularly fast on their own. As long as WCG tasks are single threaded (which I only assume), it's still going to take about a week to return the results. OPN1 tasks on Odroid M1 took some 22 hours to process - probably because of suboptimal 32-bit ARM binaries, still compatible with 2012 RasPi. Like I said in some other thread, I'd gladly compile tuned and optimized ARM binaries if I knew how to obtain the source code for these tasks. I'm pretty sure it's not open source, is it. |

It would be nice if some of the other programs had ARM support. I had to switch back to folding@home while OPN is dry.

Following-up on Cyclops' note...
----------------------------------------I initially got a flood of MCM WU's after OPN-tasks went silent, but midday yesterday I started noticing the queue on my (7) Linux machines were rapidly depleting with nothing coming-in. Later that afternoon, I started opening the BOINC clients to allow other / non-WCG Projects to run so that my machines wouldn't run dry. Odd thing is my (2) Windows machines appear to being kept well-supplied ![]() -- Below is a recent Event Log from one of the Linux boxes... Buckets of MCM WU's coming to my Windows machine - enough to keep 20 cores continuously busy. Curiously, an older 4-core Windows machine never gets any.

I'd love to know how far along we are in the MCM Sarcoma dataset and what the next cancer target or targets is going to be. I think we've done lung, breast, and maybe another one so far, and currently sarcoma. I remember maybe pancreatic and prostate next?
----------------------------------------It'd be cool to tackle multiple at once, if that's possible.

Thank you
indeed - lung cancer was first, then ovarian cancer and now sarcoma. Those were selected as we have been working on them. Taking on WCG kept us more than busy - but we have been considering the future one - and pancreatic cancer was on the list, due to its devastating prognosis. It has not been decided yet though thank you for the support igor |
