It seems that WCG will not currently use local preferences. Fair enough, go to device manager & change web preferences. So far, no effect. Still running 8 cores instead of 4 (reduced due to RAM limitations). Why is it refusing to accept local prefs? |

What messages appear in log?
----------------------------------------Is there one saying General prefs from : <project> (last modified...)? These would be in use if local prefs are reset (cleared), default in BOINC as shipped. From memory if using locals it says something like Using local preferences. Paul.
Paul.

Hi Sirius B, can you provide any screenshots/details? We thought we had fixed the preferences issue before (read here), so if you are still experiencing it I can forward it to the tech team. |

25/10/2022 20:33:00 | | (to change preferences, visit a project web site or select Preferences in the Manager) Hi Sirius! It seems that WCG will not currently use local preferences. Fair enough, go to device manager & change web preferences. So far, no effect. Still running 8 cores instead of 4 (reduced due to RAM limitations). Why is it refusing to accept local prefs? I had the same problem a week or so ago that BOINC would not accept local preferences, in my case it was the use of X% of processors that BOINC would not obey. Only solution was to remove the project, and then attach it again. After that operation, local preferences started to work again. I guess it's a problem with some of the configuration files on the WCG side, that suddenly blocks/overrides local preferences. In my case, it happened just after I had selected to receive MCM1 tasks too, after I only had been running OPN1 and OPNG tasks for a long time. Thanks for the link Cyclops. I must admit to not checking in as often since the shutdown. Also, sorry for the delay in replying. Been have a duel with my rig. With it crunching on all 8 cores, it made it difficult to do any other work as it froze the machine up.
----------------------------------------The problem I have is that due to the ram limitations on WCG various projects, I had web prefs set at 50% & only used local prefs for African rainforest whiich I had set at 12.5%. So cannot understand how web prefs changed to 100%. I did enter Device profile for the screenshot as you requested but found it had changed to 50%. 1st thing this morning I changed it again to 25% & kept hitting project update. Its working, so going to leave it run at that for a day or so before I change it back to 50%. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Sirius B at Oct 27, 2022 2:36:22 PM] |
