Come Krimbil, this has been going on forever and a lifetime.
How are we supposed to download tasks if you can't get your download servers to work? I have 24 tasks waiting to download and every retry is the same. I'm about ready to give up on you again because you clog up my system with failed downloads. When are you going to fix this? Is it time to call in some experts? How can you claim you are up and running when you have these errors? |

Hi,
----------------------------------------yep, download isn't well working. use the really dirty way and create a crontask with "/usr/bin/boinccmd --network_available" every 10sec (no need to run it as root) or with windows : "C:\Program Files\boinc\boinccmd" --network_available The quotes are required because of the space between Program and Files. https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=675622

I let a batch try to download overnight. Nothing downloaded. Incredible.
I guess its time to leave this project for awhile. This is beyond stupid! |

Krembil needs to reduce the number of task download offers to the level where their servers can support their download. Offer too many downloads and the retries will increase probably exponentially.

The top ten users earned a third of all the points on WCG yesterday. So plenty of work is being done by some. One user alone accounted for almost 9% of all the points earned.

AFAIK there is no documented boinccmd command to retry a (stuck) download, but the BOINC manager advanced view has a button to do just that, so it must be part of the BOINC client API. The 9 super-contributors may have written a program that automatically detects stuck downloads and repeatedly issues the retry command. Or they have nothing else to do in their lives except to do this manually in BOINC Manager on every one of their devices.
Please fix, Krembil. Meanwhile, I'll do my bit to ease the load by shutting down all of my devices for a few weeks at least. |

AFAIK there is no documented boinccmd command to retry a (stuck) download. Extract from first result from google of boinccmd: --file_transfer URL filename {retry | abort} Do operation on a file transfer As used by wcgresults -x that some of us run by crontab on Linux. https://sourceforge.net/projects/wcgtools/files/ Paul.

boinccmd is a part of boinc. It's the command line app to do all you can do with boincmgr.
----------------------------------------"boinccmd --network_available" is the same as clicking on retry download button on boincmgr. So it's like clicking on this button every 10 sec to retry fails downloads. And it work. Launch the command and take a look at your transfer tab in boincmgr you'll see.
