Re: Est. Duration - huge increase for OPN1 and wild variations for OPNG

Al:
P.S. I'd love to see some of those high-credit OPN1 tasks :-) -- most of mine self-verify so I get what I ask for, which is based on the reality of run-time and local benchmarks (rather than the FPOPS estimate) as I understand it...
Do you mean some URLs?
That's something that can be arranged quite quickly. smile

Re: Est. Duration - huge increase for OPN1 and wild variations for OPNG

I regularly take 3 hours plus to crunch OPN1 units. Recently BOINC Manager was forecasting over 17 hours for completing new batches. I continued crunching at my usual speed and the newer batches have started to reduce the forecast, first to 0ver 14 hours and then to over 12 hours. The latest are 11+ hours

MCM1 units have been unchanged.

This has resulted in fewer units being sent with a message saying don't need when updating.

rsc_fpops_est is set by the researcher in the configuration file that controls the work generator.
When running a task, pull up the init_data.xml file in the slot it is running in and look at the value.
That is what the client uses to figure out the time remaining.

Estimate still creeping down. It is now down to 5 hours, which is still nearly double what actually happens, but getting there.

Re: Est. Duration - huge increase for OPN1 and wild variations for OPNG

It's very annoying that the remain estimate keeps going up and down with OPN1 tasks, from around 2 hours as it should be, and upto 9 hours or so. How about fixing it?
