Hello,
I don't see any new tasks in my contribution page from February, however there were many ARP tasks done plus few from other subprojects. It seems that it also affects these subprojects too. Do someone know why it stopped working? Is this a matter of the migration of a project? I am a member since 2009. |

Hello, Seriously? Do you have been living under rock?I don't see any new tasks in my contribution page from February, however there were many ARP tasks done plus few from other subprojects. It seems that it also affects these subprojects too. Do someone know why it stopped working? Is this a matter of the migration of a project? I am a member since 2009. In September 2021, one year ago, it was announced that WCG is moving from IBM to Krembil. For that move, the whole project was shut down in February 2022 for the physical move to begin. The forum and web site came back up some time in May 2022. They then started to send out test WUs in June 2022. And now in Sepctember 2022, the whole system is still in "testing mode". Sorry, but there are dozens of threads with hundreds of posts on this forum mentioning all of this... Ralf |

Hmm... I'm not living under the rock and I just wanted to know what's going on. If I remember correctly the migration should end in April. Then, there were few messages than the release date will be shifted again and again... I just wanted to know where the spare time of my laptop goes in case of WCG, because I started to receive tasks for it again. However, if all of this is still "under testing" do you know why it is released to production? Also, if this thread is common, why it isn't marked or pinned as important at the top of the forum? Thank you for the info and sorry for disturbance.

Thank you for the info and sorry for disturbance. Well, to make a long story short, communication from WCG/Krembil has been less than stellar. But all the necessary news has been, just for example, in the "News" subforum. And both "Web Site Support" and "BOINC Agent Support" are among those that carry relevant news. And should be obvious first choices to look for info. And as mentioned, this has been soooo often been posted, all over the forum, that it is really hard to miss, pinned or not. And people have been posting the same question, over and over again, to be answered over and over again, in pretty much all active subforums. Which of course means if someone is really looking and checking recent posts, which are in fact marked, it would be really hard to miss the info about what is going on, though this is made a bit harder because of all the noise. But you have to blame some of your fellow WCG crunchers for that. And that is something that frustrates me as well as most other crunchers, because it got to the point where it seriously distracts from the issues at hand. And if you are asking "when" (and not "why" ) it is released "into production", well, your guess is as good as everyone else's right now, though in the last couple of days, there seems to have been some tangible progress being made... See today's email. Mike An interesting email. Too bad the transient HTTP problem is not yet fully fixed. I trust they are getting close to a solution. It is interesting they sent this email out on a Friday. If they are willing to run this operation, they should be prepared to have somebody available to troubleshoot on a 24/7 basis, even if it is on an on-call basis. I would speculate that most of the issues could be solved remotely if the person has the proper access, so it is not like they would have to be on-site to trouble shoot. If they have their act together, they will have some automatic hardware fail over triggers with notifications sent to the proper people.Contingency plans should always be several layers deep. Cheers

That the project was rather well run and responsive was a major reason for me to switch from Rosetta@Home, which at that time had a lot of issues, though they have since been topped by Krembil... I would be very surprised if they have enough capacity yet. They have been in limited testing mode so far and they probably don't yet know what capacity they will ultimately need until we get back all our crunchers.

Basically, anything involved in data transmission. The downloading issues are an example. They are much improved but when we are in full production more will be needed. Mike |
