FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PEOPLE GET YOUR JUNK SERVERS MORE BANDWITH! How are we supposed to help solve the worlds problems when you cant give us work units because your out of bandwidth. It is likely not an issue with "bandwidth" but with the number of connections at any given time. And that can either be an issue with the networking stack, it also could be an issue with the file system of the server (cluster)...But either way, after 3 months of "testing" with WUs and 4 months before that with setting up and transferring the system itself, there should be more progress than this... It would help manage expectations if there were clear updates or ETAs to get the server problems fixed...

Ralf It would appear given the problems are still happening that the number of available connections needs to be an order or magnitude greater than is currently configured. Ralf It would appear given the problems are still happening that the number of available connections needs to be an order or magnitude greater than is currently configured. Now the big question is when and how is someone at Krembil really actively looking at this issue. I mean seriously, we have today the 1y anniversary that the move has been announced, with 4 months time passing to actively transferring the project from IBM to Krembil and now we are dealing with these issues for another 3 months. Even in worst of times, communication with the team at IBM was lightyears ahead of what is happening now. Or not happening, for that matter. One thing that I have noticed that is (not) happening since the revival after the SSL certificate f/u, is that validated WUs don't seem to be purged from the result database, so someone might be working on something, let's just hope that there will be a tangible result soon. The days are getting shorter, the temps start to drop and crunching season is upon us soon... ;-) Ralf |

Ralf: Yes, it has been increasing steadily since about Friday. For me, this has been depending on how many and what kind of WUs (OPNG usually comes in with a couple hundreds at a time sometimes), I used to have between 700 and 1200 result entries in the Result page. Right now, there are 3290, with actually a decrease in WUs in progress (for example, no OPNG since about Friday), and a modest increase in WUs in PVa/PVe jail (a bit over 300) roughly 450 in progress and 2434 valid WUs.One thing that I have noticed that is (not) happening since the revival after the SSL certificate f/u, is that validated WUs don't seem to be purged from the result database Ralf, Would the implication of this be that the number of results is continually increasing, or to put it another way, not decreasing? That has never been in such a ratio even "in the good old days" and also not since sending of WUs started again. I have a download once or twice a day of the history.csv file since August 23rd, and this is a change as mentioned, just in the last few days, as apparently currently no valid (or erroneous) WU seem to be purged out after 2-3 days. I need to fix a stupid bug that I introduced trying some optimization in my own stats program (based on the Result's page history.csv), then I can tell exactly when which WUs have been purged at what time (and a lot of other things)...
