In TASKS downloads seem to accumulate but never complete.
In TRANSFERS they accumulate and promise to retry but don't. Reloading Boinc manager doesn"t change anything. Is ther anything wrong with my setup? It has always worked before and was working until a few days ago. |

No, there's issues with the network on Krembil's side and they aren't fixed yet.

I have aborted all and set to no new tasks in order to free these up for new crunchers.

I have aborted all and set to no new tasks in order to free these up for new crunchers. Why?You could just mark the lot and hit a few times retry and you could crunch them yourself.... This is a general problem at Krembil/WCG, for weeks now, and "new crunchers" will run into the same problem.until this gets finally looked at and fixed. Ralf |

If left to download WUs by itself, BOINC can take many hours to download a WU. Each time it fails, the retry interval gets longer. Can be several hours between retries after failing repeatedly.
----------------------------------------However if you have time and don't mind putting in effort, you can manually click the retry to force BOINC to attempt to download the WU. Usually after 6 or 7 retries it will eventually succeed. Though I don't know if spamming retries is ethically the right thing to do. On a large scale of thousands of people manually hitting retry, it probably overloads the server even more and makes the situation worse. ![]() |

' 'the WU' ? I have systems with 48 and 80 cores doing nothing except backing off. There is no 'the WU'. I´m not going to babysit downloading each and every WU. Before this spectacular non-performance, the 80 core system had about one thousand WU's downloaded in the queue with no errors whatsoever. Now it's doing nothing. The staff happily mentioning on August the 15th (almost 2 weeks ago) List of issues that have been solved: No WUs are available to download is not helping my understanding. Available should mean available to crunchers, not stuck behind some never moving network problem. |

'the WU' ? I have systems with 48 and 80 cores doing nothing except backing off I feel your pain. I don't have systems that big, but have the same problems. But I am not going to get high blood pressure over it. Looking forward to the solution whenever it comes. Cheers

However if you have time and don't mind putting in effort, you can manually click the retry to force BOINC to attempt to download the WU. Usually after 6 or 7 retries it will eventually succeed. It's the only thing to get WUs on one of my machines before the deadline. I babysat it for a few minutes and kept clicking the retry button when they all failed. Doing that like 6x or 7x made it so they all got downloaded. My thought is if I don't get the WUs then they'll get bounced to someone else and the problem is repeated. Might as well try and finish what was assigned to me.Though I don't know if spamming retries is ethically the right thing to do. On a large scale of thousands of people manually hitting retry, it probably overloads the server even more and makes the situation worse. ![]() |

Just keep clicking retry, I have 15 pc's running and it's taken me hours today to get a bunch of tasks to crunch!! Good thing is the tasks are long enough that they aren't returning them and asking for new one immediately..I'm running Covid-19 gpu tasks and ARP tasks.

They won't get bounced to someone else until they time out, they will keep on retrying until they time ou, the APR tasks time out in 6 days.
