So, now they changed back to http, from the newly configured https.
----------------------------------------Once again my Boinc log is a bit dirty: This project seems to have changed its URL. When convenient, remove the project, then add http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ Unfortunately the auto-adjust in newer clients will probably not work the other way around, from https to http. I'm sure they'll get it right in the end. I will not change anything, only wait and see what happens. I'm in no hurry, and as I have said before, my patience is almost endless. ![]() Good luck Christian in fighting with the BOINC server setup. Don't too much.[Edit 2 times, last edit by Grumpy Swede at Jul 13, 2022 1:32:48 AM] |

Thanks to WCG for making the two URLs match -- not the direction I thought would happen, but it does stop the annoying messages...
Now we wait for people to start complaining that it doesn't use HTTPS for everything... :-) Cheers - Al. |

Now we wait for people to start complaining that it doesn't use HTTPS for everything... :-) Cheers - Al. Yup, 1 hour and 45 minutes ago, they changed back to http, from https, of course making my Boinc log look "dirty" again, this time telling me to change back to http again This project seems to have changed its URL. When convenient, remove the project, then add http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ Hehe, we who had BOINC versions that auto-adjusted from http to https, or those who changed manually to https, but avoided using the master. prefix, have now gone from a perfect log, back to being told to change back to http. (Hilarious) Not complaining really, it will all be fine in the end. Admit that it's entertaining ![]() [Edit 4 times, last edit by Grumpy Swede at Jul 13, 2022 1:50:05 AM] |

Those new attached-twice messages should be fixed now. Thank you, everyone, for speaking up about them. Naturally, they appeared when we tried to correct the master_url setting on WCG servers that was causing the the old-URL messages. We fixed the hostname but missed the HTTP/HTTPS difference that many of you raised.
----------------------------------------The official World Community Grid's BOINC project URL has always been http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org, and we never considered trying to change it, especially at an awkward time like this. It was supposed to be an ain't broke/don't fix it detail of the project. The bad URL, both the HTTPS and the wonky hostname earlier resulted from config details accidentally copied over from our test environment by our build tools. So in the end we broke it twice and fixed it twice. Ugh. I sincerely hope it ends there. Sorry for the flip-flopping. Thank you to Grumpy Swede, Richard Haselgrove, Unixchick, alanb1951, and the rest for your insights, reports, and suggestions. Thanks Christian!
----------------------------------------If it is HTTP and not HTTPS you want to keep, then it would be a good idea to contact those that maintains the all_projects_list.xml file, which downloads to the client every 14 days. As I said in another thread, it's used by the client when attaching to the project. As of now WCG is all https in that file. It comes from here: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/project_list.phpand perhaps it's David Anderson who maintains it. Maybe Richard Haselgrove knows who maintains that list. And when it comes to going back to HTTP for me, it's no harder than removing the project, and attaching again, this time manually editing so it's only HTTP since the list the BOINC client looks for, has HTTPS for WCG. Anyhow, it's progress Christian, that's the most important thing. Edit, added: And now I'm back in business again, with HTTP, and no errors or nagging in the log. @Christian:
Lot's of IBM stuff in the "terms_of_use" section at the end of the get_project_config.xml file, downloaded to the BOINC data folder, when you attach to the project. IBM is mentioned 45 times in those "Terms of use", and Krembil zero times. Maybe time to fix that too, and make it Krembil stuff instead. |

I'm still getting the "This project seems to have changed its URL" notice. I uninstalled my old BOINC client and am now using the latest stable release, which is 7.16.20. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help debug this.

Ralf (sorry, I am really getting fed up with people posting the same nonsense for several weeks now and not reading already existing thread in the forum ) |

I am very aware of the current state of the issue, if you look at *this* thread above, you'll see that it was claimed to be fixed. I am reporting that I am still seeing the issue despite the claim that it's fixed. Please read the posts more carefully.
