Re: Scheduler request failed: HTTP service unavailable

Well, yes, maybe, as it seems a lot of people are trying to participate without knowing how BOINC actually works.

I hesitate to think how correct this statement actually is. Which is kind of the point to make BOINC easy to use especially for the non-technical crowd.
Cheers

Re: Scheduler request failed: HTTP service unavailable

In a sense, think of all the posts asking as to why they're not getting any WU's as positive - as there's still an appetite out there to receive and process work, even from those less initiated about how it all works.

I think I'd be more worried, if, after the website and forums came back, that there were no end users using thembiggrin

Re: Scheduler request failed: HTTP service unavailable

Then perhaps it would be useful to state very clearly that information on the main page of the website.

It is very clear on the main page.

How can "Website and Forum Restart!", "Website and forum are now online." be misunderstood to mean that BOINC is also online?

Well, technically, it also says "System migration completed". Which at least implies everything should be working again.

Clear communication is a skill.
Implying certain knowledge while sending a message to a large audience is a recipe for failure.

Well, no. It means that all the stuff from the old setup has been transferred. But that doesn't mean it is all in working order...

"system" is interpreted as "everything" unless otherwise stated.

Re: Scheduler request failed: HTTP service unavailable

That's what Science United was suppose to be. People install it, make some choices and theoretically it all runs happily in the background.

However, there seems to be minimal tech support for it looking at the forum.

I tried it and uninstalled it when I discovered it was connecting and disconnecting to projects frequently plus projects weren't playing friendly with it. That was early on though and they probably ironed out some of those bugs but it seems there is still some criticism of it...

There doesn't seem to be any real love for it from SU folks, so I haven't bothered trying it out again...

Well, yes and no. But even when someone doesn't know how this all works, more than a week later, people should NOT still be posting those questions about "no work" more than a week later. At the latest after two days, everyone should have read by that time one of the answers that explain this... sad

Re: Scheduler request failed: HTTP service unavailable

You expect people to READ the forum before asking the same question that's been asked about 40 times already?

I would ask 500 questions and I would ask 500 moooore...
