Just to say that this morning the xml extracts of the result records were fine, now they fail with a type mismatch. Random record, momentarily on result for MCM1_0183851_6011_1

Getting to Help is not easy these days, obfuscated to say the least, but it's the extract thru your API in xml format: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/search.s?searchString=API that borgs. Presently it's result MCM1_0183910_0484_1 where the fail occurs and then OPN1_0086147_00983_0 5 minutes later... random but certainly not the same Nth record in the extract.. |

I cannot recreate the issue. When I fetch your records through the API the XML is loading all of your 162 records correctly in well formatted XML.
What tool is reporting "type mismatch"? |

Excel, script only pulls the returned results. The script for in progress works fine.
----------------------------------------Edit: for good order, this morning I pulled a 'stable' backup from my cloud of October 13, ran the script and same problem... 'type mismatch', another result of course and long as I don't fetch a new set repeating the process always fails at same record. Note it does raw data pull, but the problem record's data then cannot be read into the database (table) as it baulks at a record that does show as text rather than numbers for the numeric fields, left aligned, as give away instead of right aligned.. Hi there knreed,
Ignoring the issue does not make it go away. Stepped thru the script and in fact the random is not so random, it's the first record of the download that comes with gunk. I was looking at the list after a first sort by result ID, the trillion minus 1 sized number, the first record of course always changing as things validate and go to archive. No idea how to clean while receiving, like the html page scrapes of the various that were broken after the site change (took adriverhoef weeks to reprogram his scripts per a post of his), the profile viewing and editing in my own app broken too, this was the second last that is now defective since that disk swap day. Only thing still working is the My Contribution table extraction. Oh well, not going to wait for the last function to break too, so I've unloaded BOINC, so much less noise in the room and a nice saving on the electricity bill with skyrocketing prices at this time too. The automatic withdrawal from the bank account makes you almost forget too. |

The automatic withdrawal from the bank account makes you almost forget too. There are other BOINC projects out there even if you had a frustration with this one. A snarky response is not a mature reaction. They are in the middle of a transition and Kevin is quite busy and would have a hard time tracking various threads strewn about the forums. The better option would be to email support@worldcommunitygrid.org which will create a case that they can track. But you've decided to quit over an API of all things so it looks like it's too late for that. ![]() |

Regarding the [old] API...
I have been using the old API to fetch results as JSON (except for the My Contribution equivalent, which only offers XML!) ... Never having fetched results as XML I did an experiment and discovered that if one follows the documentation verbatim it returns JSON when one asks for XML! If, however, one puts format=XML (lower-case F) instead of Format=XML it returns XML! (The API web page implies one should use upper-case F!) I have no idea whether the XML format itself has changed -- what I got looked o.k. to me, with the actual results following three lines about available data (just like the JSON data!), and I've no idea how one would load it into Excel so I've no idea what might have broken for lavaflow... Of course, I'm presuming the fetched data was XML, not JSON :-) Cheers - Al. P.S. I now have scripts that use the new API as well, so if/when they turn the old API off I'm "good to go"... |

I read this thread and I don't get it. It's none of my business of course and I don't want to start a flame war but quitting WCG because a result API has changed or does not work anymore. Really!! Really??
Yes I'm upset (more than upset) that the overview page is void of any good information like it use to but dropping WCG for that. Huh? My 4 machines are still chugging away like they use to but I miss my morning fix of seeing how I was doing. It only lasted 27 seconds. Those three 14-day graphs (points, WUs done, and hours). What's with these results which are so pressing? It seems that they must be quasi-real time. What do people do with these stats? Am I missing something which I should know of? What are the consequences of not having those results stats? I keep my own in a spreadsheet. It was a copy/paste (one for each machine and one for total) and now it's 5 downloads. OK so it was more cumbersome to find and I now only do it every 10-12 days. Maybe if I had many many machines to look after it would be a different story but like adriverhoef (mentioned above) who took weeks to reprogram his scripts I would adapt. |
