Increased Support

I was reading the News Article about the Increased Support MCM is receiving.
In my case, I have not been receiving any work units from other WCG projects, or from Rosetta, so, except for Aug-11, my computer has been doing nothing but MCM for the last two weeks.

Re: Increased Support

ARP has work, though I would limit it to no more than half the cores for maximum efficiency. MCM is a good combination with ARP, since MCM does not need much cache and ARP does. I usually run four ARP and eight MCM on a Ryzen 3600. Each does well.

OPN probably has CPU work too, but there is no point in it, since the GPUs can do it faster and more efficiently.

Should wish to do so, have you opted-in to Africa Rainfall Project in whichever profile is assigned to that computer in your list of devices? Do note the system requirements, though.

You say you run 4 ARPs and 8 MCMs, since I have an AMD Ryzen 9 5950x 16-core, am I supposed to limit each ARP to 1 core? I already run 12 MCMs at one time.

Re: Increased Support

If you have 16 threads, you can run a maximum of 8 threads on ARP and the rest split between OPN & MCM. Scale up or down according to the machine.

All projects have gained support as MIP has finished.

I actually have 32 threads. I have a 16-core CPU. The AMD Ryzen 9 5950x.
If I run 4 ARPs, then I would give each one 4 threads. Then I could run 8 MCMs more efficiently together and have room to do other things.

My 2 best computers do 100% Mapping Cancer Markers :-)
- An AMD Ryzen 9 3900 (non x): 12-core, 24 thread.
- An Intel Core i5 8400 (Coffee Lake) : 6-core, 6 thread.

As far as we know, there is no end date. And per recent WCG statements, this project has virtually unlimited work.
----------------------------------------

AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W
AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W
AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz
