smile Hot cpu

smile I have run Seti@Home for 5 years. The last 2 1/2 at 24/7. I have not had any problems with heating. (Dell P-4 1.8ghz 512mb ram). I am now running Seti and Grid simultaneously. Whether there are aliens out there or not is not the question, aiding humanity and the world working together should be the main concern. We all like to feel important, but sometimes maybe we should step back a little and see what we are really all about.

Best wishes to the grid team, I'm here until my system "melts" down...

smile Re: Hot cpu

There are many other posts in the forums about this.

Summing up:
-This program does not as yet contain a control to throttle CPU usage. I would bet this is a high priority item for future versions.
-CPU usage can be saved by editing your device profile and scheduling on/off times.
-The pause feature can be used to stop processing for a specified time period.
-The program does not have to be run 24x7
-There are 3rd party (and free) programs which can be used to limit CPU use of specific programs and processes.
