Re: Last Week of Microbiome Immunity Project

Probably they will be "Aborted by Server" if possible as soon as one of the results will be returned.
That's true - if they haven't already been started, but if they have (and are within their original deadline), then I'd hope that they be credited.

IIRC they will be credited even after the original deadline as long as they are not purged from the database. Because of the way how rosetta works they are different and useful results, so it's not real waste of computing power if both results are returned, the scientists will just get few more than they asked for.

Yes, they will be aborted by the server if possible: WU 744622469.

Re: Last Week of Microbiome Immunity Project

Well, that's all the work from one computer returned successfully. Now, just awaiting my other computer's buffer to get processed, then that's me more than likely done with this project.

If only I'd heve not trusted in WCG, thinking that MIP would still have years to run, I'd have gotten nearer my 5 year goal before temporarily switching to other projects before returning to it. At one point, I even thought that this could be the project that'd last so long that I'd make 10 years with it... Now, unless something dramatic changes, I'll be forever (I guess) ~50-60 days short of my 5 year Diamond badge.

If it makes you feel any better, I personally admire the breadth of your collection of badges that newer members like myself will never have the chance to earn at any level.

Re: Last Week of Microbiome Immunity Project

My MIP work ended at 1:322:20:43:27, so I missed out on the 2-year badge for it. On the other hand, I can't complain about the COVID badge (just reached this morning). If you have some ARM single-board computers (Raspberry Pi, etc.) lying around doing nothing or having extra cycles go wasted, putting them on WCG will give them a steady stream of OPN1 units and push your OPN run time up nicely.

On the other hand, FAH2 was pretty much done for by the time I got started crunching, and in almost a year and a half I've had exactly three HST work units. There ought to be a "tin" badge for getting at least one of those. :)

Re: Last Week of Microbiome Immunity Project

spRocket, with regards your 'tin' comment for HST, there are methods where you can vastly increase your chances of getting more than the 3 WU's you've had already - even if you just want to reach Bronze level (14 days).

Obviously I don't know what kind of set-up you've got (number of compuers/cores/OS's etc.), but one method is to limit the number of (say) COVID WU's in your Device Settings profile to n cores + 1 as well as including HST in the mix (to atleast 1 WU - but no more than n cores/2), then set the buffer to 5 days. That'll encourage your machine to send a request for more WU's on a regular basis. You could even enhance this by scheduling a job (be it a batch, CRON or simply via the scheduler), to issue the following command "c:\progra~2\boinc\boinccmd --project http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org update" (this may need to be tweaked, depending on OS, and of course, removing the quotes).

Anyhow, good luck in getting your HST badge - and congratulations for your other achievements, in particular the 10 years for MCM & 20 years for Covid.
