How does a task run on a discrete GPU get a time exceeded error in less than 2 hours?

I've had those too...sucks! That it does along with the fact that AMD users only get credited with a small fraction of the compute time compared to Nvidia users. Can't even begin to guess how many thousands of hours of badge time I've lost to that.

It seems that atleast the AMDs I'm running use almost zero CPU, while (new) Intels and Nvidias puts a huge load on CPU.

How does a task run on a discrete GPU get a time exceeded error in less than 2 hours? https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/...og.do?resultId=1747724042 And several, like this one, that run for over 2 hours on the same GPU are valid? https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/...og.do?resultId=1747728184 The error arises because the 'estimated time to complete' is way off in such a case and the task involved has just too many jobs inside them, nanoprobe. See this thread ("Insane short time to complete, tasks get aborted too early"). The 'estimated time to complete' varies in such a way that it makes it impossible for some tasks to complete in a timely fashion. The 'estimated time to complete' swings from just under 3 MINUTES on the scale to 3 HOURS, while a task would have completed in just under 2 hours in most of those cases, in my experience. |

4 more time exceeded errors in the last 2 days. All 4 had the exact same amount of elapsed time as the previous 3. 1.76 hours. That must be the magic #.

7 more today all with the same MO from 6 different batch #s. Hoping a tech can explain why tasks that run longer or shorter than 1.76 hours on discrete GPUs have no issues.
