Not that I really care about credits all that much, I am just curious.
----------------------------------------Each Open Pandemic GPU credit for WCG seems fair and high based on other GPU projects I use. However, Boinc doesn't think so. Comparing with other GPU projects I participate in it appears that Boinc WCG credits is about 2/3 less. I am wondering why? What I have noticed with my Nvida card is that the fans do not spin with WCG projects, the amount of processing on my card is much less and temperatures stay lower. But the CPU usage on the GPU tasks seems to create more problems as the fans are constantly up and down compared with other projects. I am wondering if anyone else encountered this? ![]() |

Common observation. The app is not well optimized to keep a card at 100% utilization. Lots of compute being done on the cpu also before handing off to the gpu for each task.

Keith, thanks for that. That would make sense and explain the constant throttling of PC fans also, because other GPU projects don't usually do that, they keep them constant or only throttle down when one WU finishes and one starts like SRBase I noticed that. I also did notice that WCG GPU projects do use a lot more CPU then others.

The GPU usage for each work unit is very low. It seems to use more CPU power. I have mine set to run 4 WU per GPU (.25 GPU/.25 CPU) and that seems to be a good compromise for now.

How can you set it to only run four? Do we really have that much control? I have been with doing crunching since 2004 and never mastered how to limit down to WUs. Boinc struggles to even follow the %age per different project.
----------------------------------------I have noticed the CPU power is much more and WCG probably is tweaking things slowly, this is their first time doing GPU projects so.. I can do almost 200 a day if I let my machine go. But I swap between it and other projects manually. ![]() |

Seems like the WUs already ran out too.
