Is the WCG Community giving up on Open Pandemic research? I have noticed a steady decline in hours, points and results Worldwide on WCG.

Maybe they think that the vaccines will solve the problem. That is a very risky assumption.
----------------------------------------I have been adding machines and shifting work to covid projects ever since I heard of the new faster-spreading variants. And the forces that are causing those new strains to evolve will probably cause others to appear too. Some of them may avoid the vaccines. The time to find new anti-virals is now. The number of results returned has been steady at just over 1,000,000 per day for the last month, apart from a slight dip under 1,000,000 for Xmas and New Year, which is to be expected.

Mike,
----------------------------------------Broken link (lost the project name!) Adding projectShortName=opn1 seems to work. (And this was my second attempt at cut-and-paste for this URL!... )I'd like to know where the OP got his numbers from!... Cheers - Al. Alarmist
----------------------------------------Statistics Date Total Run Time Stats look healthy, a holiday season possible accounting for some slowdown, but Tuesday is heading again for 330 years, which is no different from the 330 on Nov.21. As for operation crawl speed, better keep crunching for meds as those vaccines will only work if you were treated before hand and had your 2 shots, which is iffy. Don't get your second shot in 3-4 weeks and you can start anew i.e. you need 3 shots. The immune system needs a timely second jolt. Now THAT should be cause for alarm. Already there's a parallel circuit for the haves and don't haves, in the US that is. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 19, 2021 7:07:52 PM] |

Is the WCG Community giving up on Open Pandemic research? I have noticed a steady decline in hours, points and results Worldwide on WCG. Nope. As others have indicated, the project looks healthier than a horse eating hay. As all projects, it is susceptible to it's up and downs depending on a number of factors like holidays, weather, etc. CJSL Crunching like a new tire on gravel... |
