You've set "Suspending GPU computation - computer is in use". If I'd be BOINC computing on GPU I'd be setting BOINC too to not compute while I'm at the mouse. You of course can set BOINC to compute while at the keyboard with "Do work on my graphics card while computer is in use? = Yes " and "Do work while computer is in use? = Yes "

I'm not worried about any suspending that is happening, as it will continue once I'm away from the computer. I'm worried about the "Exiting" the program is randomly doing. It means that no computation is happening until I notice and restart boinc. Is there any flags I can set to get more info in the log file.
Things used to work well with little maintenance. I'm not sure if it was an OS upgrade or a Boinc change or what that caused my system to "exit" (crash the boinc program?) randomly. |

Essentially exiting 14 seconds after u started using the computer again. Look in stderrdae.txt file if anything is there (boinc data directory folder, default C:\Programdata\BOINC, which may be hidden).

Hi there,
----------------------------------------I unchecked all of the "suspend" boxes on my local prefs and have had no problems. The lower priority of the WCG tasks don't let them interfere. Sometimes my net is slower when BOINC uploads - but I don't have a fast net anyway. Please try that; and report if the stopping still happens. I usually look for errors under Advanced View, Tools->Event Log ----- I see that you crunch other projects. On the advanced view, Projects page, resource share, do you give 50-50 orsometing similar? That is set on the projects web page - in your profile. ----- By stopping, do you mean that other BOINC tasks are running instead? Maybe other tasks run because of a nearby deadline. If that is the case, set your task storage parametrs to less than a day. I use 0.75% and 0.0% additional for my settings and all is well. Sorry if you already know this. I don't have a crystal ball. :-) Good Luck, Jay Happy and Safe Holidays! edited: Fixed typos. All, I hope. ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by jay_Orlando at Dec 27, 2020 8:28:32 PM] |

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to try unchecking all the suspend boxes and see if that helps.
----------------------------------------I only have seti as another project and I've got it set to not get any work (not that there is any work on the seti project to get, but it isn't asking anymore). By stopping I mean all of Boinc just quits. The log files just says exiting and there isn't any errors, so I'm willing to increase the logging or try just about anything. I run 4 processes at 70% at a time, and have 5 processes in my queue at a time (4 running and one waiting) so my queue is minimal. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Unixchick at Dec 27, 2020 11:05:20 PM] |

Hello UnixChick,
----------------------------------------Greetings. I have more ideas. (but not the best...) In your website profile, there are items that can suspend BOINC.Are any of these set?? Use 0.0 to overide.
I woud set these, and yhen set my local prefs to use web prefs. (and then override with local prfs for any more temp changes.) I'm grasping at straws, hoping something fits. Best wishes, Jay ![]() |

Have a look in the cc_config.xml file. There are a couple of flags that say exit before starting and exit after completing, make sure neither of these are set.

Is BOINC running as the screensaver? The client will exit when the system resumes from idle and the screensaver has stopped (which can happen with display power saving).
