BM does not get work - don't need

Hello,
my Boinc Manager don't get new workunits.
One PC was running completely empty, the other one has only 25% load now.
I have 4 active projects ticked.
Until yesterday all PCs got enough work.
Today:
Mo 23 Nov 2020 14:42:00 CET | World Community Grid | update requested by user
Mo 23 Nov 2020 14:42:03 CET | World Community Grid | Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
Mo 23 Nov 2020 14:42:03 CET | World Community Grid | Not requesting tasks: don't need ()
Mo 23 Nov 2020 14:42:05 CET | World Community Grid | Scheduler request completed

Any suggestions?

OPN, ARP, MCM, HSTB.
I got some WUs in the meantime, but still less than i have CPU-Cores.

Re: BM does not get work - don't need

Assumption: No concurrent run limitation set in app_config.xml!

The 'don't need' suggests the runtime sum of all work you have is greater than the buffer/cache setting MINIMUM. Try increasing it a bit.

That said, BOINC in principle does not let resources it is allowed to use sitting idle

BOINC version?

One mitigator is that if you hit update in the BOINC Manager when selecting WCG in the projects view, a rule is kicking in that basically says "while I'm there, get one more work unit", so try that too and see, were it not you already did that per log " Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.", so my bet for moment is increasing the work buffer on the devices.

Re: BM does not get work - don't need

I did not change anything in the app_config.
BM is v.7.9.3 (the version that ubuntu has included)

OK, i have set the buffer from 1 day to 0,01day yesterday - but in the past this was never a problem, at minimum 1 WU per CPU-Threads was downloaded+some WUs additional. Even set to 0 worked, then there is normally 1 WU per Thread and no waiting WUs. I updated several times manually after the 2minutes timeout was over. Alway the stupid "dont need" message.

Now the Boinc Manager has enough work - I still did not change anything. Its still 0,01day buffer. I hope now it works better for the next hours or even days.

I just want to understand that stange behaviour of the BM. Sometimes this program is acting like a KI from the 90s.

Re: BM does not get work - don't need

The last 24h were without any new "dont-needs", so I hope it was just a hiccup in the data highway or something like this.
