Ok serious movie buffs. Late 70's or early 80's. There was a movie about an old man living on the side of a hill in NM, AZ (someplace like that). Had his property mined, had it fenced in, barbed wire...you get the idea. He was rebelling against taxes, pointed out the government was never granted permission to tax our belongings. In the end the military opened fire on his home and property since they couldn't set foot on it without risking being blown up. He of course had escape tunnels and fled out the other side of the hill.

No country for old men or The old man and the gun, to name a few titles that fit the bill, but neither fits the story.

In the Line of Duty: Manhunt in the Dakotas
----------------------------------------"Gordon Kahl is man who feels that the U.S. government doesn't care about the American farmer, so he retaliates by not paying taxes. He would be sent to prison and upon being released, his views have not changed. He encourages anyone who is having trouble not to pay taxes. He also joins a paramilitary and a white supremacy group. When the FBI learns of this, they try to arrest Kahl but Kahl, armed, doesn't want to go, and when the Feds don't let him go, he kills most of them. He then goes on the run and it's up to the FBI agent to headed the operation to find Kahl, and anyone else who may have been involved." I've never seen it but could be it?  |

Too new and my guy wasn't on the run. Just a homeowner letting everyone know taxes are illegal. In the end they forced him out of his home but he still won because the media coverage let everyone know his point.

Sure it was an actual movie and not just a TV programme? Over this side of the pond I don't recall anything like your description being released in the cinemas.

Yes, saw it several times on HBO or TMC in the mid 80's
