Restricting Work units

Is there a way to allow a projects work units, but restrict them to so many at a time?

I have been running all projects, but one project fills up the cue because it's work units are 6 times longer than any other. Is there a way to make sure the work units don't get overwhelmed by one project without completely refusing that project's work units?

Yes, by using profiles (Default/home/school/work). Scroll to the bottom of each profile and you will see the "project limits" where you can limit the work units for each project individually.

Re: Restricting Work units

Do you mean how many WUs of each project that you have in cache on your computer? Then Yes.

Do you mean how many of which project run at anyone time on your computer? In most cases, only by restricting the cache. The WUs are run in download order, unless the deadline of the WU is running out. So f you have 4 ARPs and a small cache, then it is highly likely that all 4 ARP WUs will end up being crunched at the same time.

There is also the app_config.xml file to control how many work units of each sub-project can execute at the same time.

Re: Restricting Work units

You can, of course, combine the restriction in your custom profile with app_config.xml to restrict the numbers actually crunched. However, both should allow for the likelihood of a project running out of work temporarily.

Re: Restricting Work units

Thank you all. I'm running all projects, just didn't want one project to take up all my systems time. It's good now.
