Hey. Is it possible to implement the function of adding information about individual results to the badges? (in the form of a list of publications (preferably with links to publications (DOI)) indicating the share of participation in %), similar to how it is implemented in the project (GPU GRID)

Sincerely kirkgg Is the share of participation for the points, the results, or the time ? These figures can be easily calculated by each individual use if they so desire. I really don't see the need to put it on a badge or otherwise publish it. I am speculating that for most individual members the numbers as expressed in a percentage form would involve quite small decimals. For instance, with Open Pandemics, the total number of units done is about 110,000,000 so 1% would be 1,100,000. Given the average time of about 3 hours, this would imply about 3,300,000 hours of computing time which is about 376 2/3 years of computing. There may be a few individuals who have computer farms big enough to reach this level, but not too many I think. I think people do as much as they are able and most people do not want to brag about how much they have done. If they do, they can just post it in the fora for others to see. So, frankly I do not see this as necessary. Cheers

I recall something about work units/tasks being "anonymized" before being sent to the researchers, and therefore cannot be linked to a specific volunteer.
----------------------------------------Maybe I'm wrong. Regardless, badges and runtime serve their purpose. If you crunched for a project, your results counted, whether they ascertained a certain compound did not work on a certain region of a protein, or if they ascertained it worked. I recall something about work units/tasks being "anonymized" before being sent to the researchers, and therefore cannot be linked to a specific volunteer. Maybe I'm wrong. Regardless, badges and runtime serve their purpose. If you crunched for a project, your results counted, whether they ascertained a certain compound did not work on a certain region of a protein, or if they ascertained it worked. I don't see it happening. WCG always says they have lots to do and in something like this, they'll likely just refer you to the News Section. Maybe Caitilarkin will chime in. Of course it won't, but that doesn't mean it's not a good idea. |

My 2 cents worth (probably a rehash of the above)...
----------------------------------------1) The WCG team is very busy with project related activities: getting another weather project going + enabling GPU for OPN + maintaining the WCG site + interfacing with project scientists/universities + etc. So being realistic, this will have very low priority. 2) The percentage of most of the crunchers would be extremely low and as Sgt.Joe stated, with a lot of decimal places after the period. In my case, I have returned 2,387 results (which I'm proud about) vs the total amount returned by the project so far: 110,725,826. That turns out to be 0.002%... hard to put on a small icon. 3) A good alternative is SNRUK's signature, which has a world of information about a cruncher's effort and can be added to any/most internet communication mediums. If I do properly understand the initial request: BOINCstats is calculation such percentages.
