ALPHA i.e. a testing level build, although the numbering suggests it's really a Beta pre-production compile which automatically becomes production if there's no show stopper within 14 days of release.

Why would someone use this client instead of the WCG version OR why would someone use the WCG client instead of the official one is the better question.
What's the difference in the two and why is it different? In my case the answer is simple. I presumed WCG was the official version. |

Don't ask questions that have been extensively answered.
1) The WCG version is to mostly satisfy corporate customers, it has IBM code auditing and WCG custom skinning. It's only refreshed every few years. Any security concern if found are backported to the Berkeley releases. 2) The Berkeley version is latest greatest. Further see above. |

An interesting observation, there have not been 32 bit builds since Sept 29, 2019, version 7.16.3. Being open source suppose if there was demand, it can be raised by anyone with the skill. (have there been features introduced that wont work on 32 bit?)
----------------------------------------Edit_ And more curious, seemingly the last wcg official 32 bit build 7.14.3 is not on the repository, only a 7.14.5 for apple. [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Sep 10, 2020 5:53:43 AM] |

No more annoying notices from Einstein@home about not having CPU work selected. Now it appears on the event log: 10/09/2020 10:11:56 | Einstein@Home | Not using CPU: project preferences 10/09/2020 10:11:56 | Milkyway@Home | Not using CPU: project preferences ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

I was just wondering why we were not notified by WCG of a new version of Boinc.?
----------------------------------------Still crunching on my MacPro with Boinc version 7.14.5 working well. As i read the posts above should i conclude that Boinc 7.16.11 has been erased? Further more the pages quoted above for the release and the generic htts://boinc.berkeley.edu are unreachable Just curious , wondering ??? what else? ![]() |

Because WCG has its own official BOINC client, currently at version 7.14.3. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |
