Load Problem with 3990x Threadripper [Win 10]

The WU seems to have problems to chose the right node unter Windwos 10 pro. When i manually shift wu to the other node, the load gets even. But only until enough new wu get to the wrong node again. crying
Other (native) Projects doesn't have this problem. Maybe LHC@home a little.

Is there a fix for this problem?

In laymen speak, a dual CPU system. It may be W10 trying to concentrate work on 1 node, to be able to sleep the other. In Windows anyway, choose the plan settings to 'high performance'

(some have complained how sometimes multiple threads of BOINC run on a single core, idling others. I've never seen it on my hyperthreaded machine. Anywat, there's no internal affinity control in BOINC. You'd need 3rd party software to automate that such as project lasso.)

Tried the high performance setting. Didn't help. Remember other projects doesn't have this problem.

Bossmaniac,

I'm currently working with another member on World Community Grid that is encountering a similar issue that you are. Can you try just having OPN1 and MCM1 selected for your projects? I would like to see if it has something to do with L2/L3 memory usage on the machine.

Thanks,
-Uplinger

OPN and MCM together seems to work fine. I think MCM has no problem with the right choise of group. OPN alone has a problem. I just stoped MCM and as wu getting finished and only OPN are aviable, the load strats to drop.

Re: Load Problem with 3990x Threadripper [Win 10]

Bossmaniac,

This is interesting. So what you're saying is that:

1. If you have just OPN and MCM selected, your computer is running at 100% on ALL cores?
2. If you switch to just OPN, then your load begins to drop?

3. Can you try just having MCM1 as your selected project?
4. Can you please send me screen shots of your task manager while in use at 100% cpu?
5. Can you send me some of your configuration files as well? cc_config.xml, client_state.xml, global_prefs.xml, global_prefs_override.xml, job_log_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.txt, sched_reply_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml, sched_request_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml, statistics_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml

These new powerful many core machines are very nice beasts! I unfortunately do not have one to test on locally. If you could please send me those files to support@worldcommunitygrid.org and in the subject put ATTN: Uplinger. I would like to track down the root cause of the load drop on a large processor like this for the future.

Thanks again!

@bossmaniac, just for future reference, what version of Windows 10 Pro are you using? Like 2004, 1910, 1903, etc.

@uplinger:
3. Tried, no work available.

I was currious and restarted the client and again have only 75% load. Many cores with no work.

This is how it looks after i sorted the task by hand.

And this is before:
