Re: Raspberry Pi - Swap file size with Raspios

I can't comment on Bullseye because i'm running Ubuntu on my RPI 4, but a constant load of 8 for unknown reasons is indeed bad. I would investigate if the extra load coming from BOINC tasks or something unrelated to BOINC.

RPi has no SMT, so there is no point in running more than 1 task per CPU core, it won't get more points per time (in fact you'll likely get slightly less, because switching between tasks itself consumes some CPU time).

Re: Raspberry Pi - Swap file size with Raspios

dougblair:
I have a collection of scripts for managing groups of these, running apt (and apt-friends) to keep the OS up to date and for running other applications with a few Pi's in the cluster. My main interest is in running this miniature data center (the biggest problem is managing the heat!) , and WCG gives me something good to do in my retirement.

The logistics of running a mini data centre was ultimately what made me go with a tradition powerful computer. I had no devices so I would have had to buy it all. I had 2 pieces of junk which are now upgraded. The Ryzen 3900x puts out about 200k points/day and the 3600x does about 85k-100k/day. Xubuntu 20.4 LTS

Now why did you "fix" the Pi's which worked and not broken by upgrading the OS. I turned off the updating of my Xubuntus. I only do WCG so don't need the latest version of Firefox and Libre Office, etc, etc.

Like you this is also a retirement hobby.

Re: Raspberry Pi

I have one R PI 4 with 8 gb memory. I changed the config to boot from USB SSD. The posts for temperature are relevant. I have a heat sink case with two fans to keep PI cool. When cpu temp approaches 80C, throttling starts reducing performance. With active cooling, temperature stays at a comfortable 70C +-. when my CPU utilization averages 98% running BOINC tasks 24x7
