only 4 of those tasks are WCG tasks, uplinger.

As of right now - there are 7 WUs total - 3 Rosetta, 4 WCG. I typically have well over 20 WCG WUs in my queue.

The MIP WU and OPN WU sent around 18:00 UTC yesterday, are not on my task list - I always have advanced view on, to monitor stuff like this.

They simply don't exist there. They're not stuck in the transfers tab either. They're just not present.

A few things.

1. I believe your client is running properly. But in the future, can I contact you directly over email if I have a question that requires an attachment? This would increase the speed for me getting details.

2. The tasks tab has a new feature with latest versions. In the tasks tab on the left, you should have a button that says 'show active tasks' or 'show all tasks', if it says all, then please click this to see the tasks.

1 - yep. you can contact me via email at any time.

2- I'm dumb. I had the client running 24/7 for weeks - and forgot that exiting the client like I needed to for this, reset it to show active tasks.
another big L. My bad.

About half of the requests my system has sent to WCG, request GPU only - but my PC can actively crunch again for the next few days on the grid. The only question is that because those GPU only requests - which wasn't happening before I made this thread - make it possible for the issue to reoccur. So as far as I can tell, I have a temporary reprieve from the issue - but the issue isn't solved?

yoerik,

I think what you are seeing here is some confusion on messaging. Your CPU is full of work, so the BOINC Client is not requesting CPU work. However, since your GPU is available to process work, it is asking only for GPU work. Lets let the client run for the next few days and see if it is able to complete CPU work properly and request it.

yoerik,

To be honest, a lot of what has been discussed in this thread is due to new messaging that is changing on the updated clients. You are running the latest from BOINC which has different messaging and comments from even the 7.14 version that we have on our site. But I would like to do a wait and see approach, it could be that something else is still a problem. Lets be patient and leave BOINC alone for 24-48 hours and see if it operates as expected.

A few simple line additions in the <log_flags> section of cc_config.xml will tell how many seconds of work are requested and if not why such as "not needed"

The below 3 are default set on if cc_config.xml does not exist
<file_xfer>1</file_xfer>
<sched_ops>1</sched_ops>
<task>1</task>

The next 2 lines add seconds of work requested and how much assigned to the event log
<sched_op_debug>1</sched_op_debug>
<cpu_sched>1</cpu_sched>

The next one is very helpful in monitoring if a task has checkpointed as it's printed every time, albeit the active job properties screen also gives information when and how long ago.
<checkpoint_debug>1</checkpoint_debug>

Notably on windows the cc_config file does not exist by default, so if there is one it's either the user or gremlins who did it.

Flags are easily switched off and on with the BOINC Manager Options > Event Log Options > BOINC Diagnostic Log Flags screen. This will create a cc_config.xml too if it did not exist. If an option is ticked, the line is set to a value of 1, if unticked, the line value is set to zero.
