Hi! I'm running the following 3 sub-projects
----------------------------------------Mapping Cancer Markers 400 MB OpenPandemics - COVID19 250 MB Smash Childhood Cancer 250 MB Since the last two require less RAM to run, I guess I could get a higher WU output if my Android device would run only these two. From my estimations I might run 2 cores with the first sub-project, while I would be able to run 3 cores with the second and/or third sub-projects (free/total RAM: 0,90GB / 1,8GB). Perhaps there's a way to set my Android BOINC client to only run the second and third sub-projects (while I run all the three in my other computers), is there? Too bad I can never use the 8 cores my smartphone has simultaneously... :-/ [Edit 2 times, last edit by wcgridmember at Jul 4, 2020 11:11:35 PM] |

You can assign a different profile to the Android.
----------------------------------------See the device profiles section. https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/viewDevices.do Go to device profiles, "create a new BOINC Device Profile for XXXXX", select the settings you want, save. Then go back to device manager, click on your Android device, go to "current assigned profile" and choose the profile you just create for the Android. Hit save. You can do a manual project update at your Android or just wait till it contacts WCG again at which time, it will receive work from the projects you selected. SCC is currently paused by the way, so OPN1 is your only other option. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

Thank you very much! On the same topic, I have another question: should I set my Android device to use 3 cores or a different number?

Depends, you could try the 3 cores and watch the temps to see if they're okay and if the charger keeps up. Also, watch how wall clock time vs CPU time looks on the 3 workunits. If the difference is very large, go down to 2 cores. IMO.

Since BOINC pauses computing when the battery is over 40 degrees Celsius, could I not just set it to use 8 cores and let it do what the hardware allows it to? Perhaps then, if a few of the WU are exceptionally low RAM demanding then it might sometimes take advantage of 4 or 5 cores simultaneously.

My main phone can run all 8 cores (1.8 GHz, 3 GB RAM) at the same time without even crossing 33ยบ.
----------------------------------------However, the Wallclock/CPU time ratio is quite bad. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz [Edit 1 times, last edit by Falconet at Jul 6, 2020 1:11:27 PM] |

How do you get/fetch Wallclock/CPU time ratio?
