[[Suggestion]] - Send Monthly Mini-Updates on a monthly email

Title is self-explanatory.

I think it would be good to send 1 monthly email to all volunteers with the monthly mini-updates from all the projects. Keeping volunteers informed, especially those who don't visit the forums, which means the majority of volunteers, could help with user retention, maybe some will even forward it to friends, family, co-workers, etc.

List all the projects with updates but maybe include just 1 or 2 highlight for each along with the link to the post in the forum.

"Hey volunteer, here's what's new from our projects this month:

OpenPandemics - COVID-19 Project
The researchers just started looking at the first batch of data that we sent them, and everything seems good.

The researchers have been working on a GPU version of AutoDock, and their initial testing has gone very well. WCG's tech team will now begin their own testing and will provide more information soon. No ETA yet--stay tuned!

FightAIDS@Home Phase 2

The Phase 2 researchers are now beginning the process of getting compounds tested and writing a manuscript based on the data they've received from us so far. This is in the very early stages and there's no ETA yet for when any of this will be completed.

Find out more here"

I think it would be useful and improve WCG-Volunteer communication.

A reddit user compiles all the monthly updates and posts to /r/BOINC, but I agree - would be nice to get something official.

Good idea!

We're looking at ways to get the monthly updates out to a larger group, including posting them as website articles and creating an additional topic tag in the News that would automatically add them to the digest emails. We hope to have one or more of these options ready to go later this year.

Glad to hear.

IMO, and whatever you decide to do, just make sure it is featured prominently on those e-mails :)
