@ Sgt. Joe: I'm sorry if it came across that way. That was far from my intention.
I thought the indefinite 'Americans' covered 'some' - certainly not 'all'. @ Aurum420: The tulips did not arrive in the Netherlandsfrom their native Turkey until AD 1593. By that time the Vikings were history by several centuries ... ![]() ![]() And, yes, switching team could be a problem for a captain. We had Captain smpell of team Crunchers 4 Life appoint his brother as a stand in captain of his team while he was away Base Camping, though. For that bravery he received a Rosie ![]() Then there is the option of creating a ghost captain ..... ![]() |

I have been to The Netherlands a couple of times, but never to Denmark. That is the easy way to keep them straight.

Flying KLM, I use to fly to København over Amsterdam
---------------------------------------- Normally - i.e. without Covid - I was supposed to spend this week in København for giving trainings; finally I have to do it as a web training (alone in my office) ![]() I like København ![]() |

With GPU WUs getting closer a reminder that this really works and has cut my electric bill bu about 30% with minimal reuction in throughput. I dropped the fan control since it makes the fans churn up and down making a lot more noise. Nvidia controls the fans better without it.
----------------------------------------#!/bin/bash /usr/bin/nvidia-smi -pm 1 /usr/bin/nvidia-smi -acp UNRESTRICTED /usr/bin/nvidia-smi -i 0 -pl 160 /usr/bin/nvidia-settings -a "[gpu:0]/GPUPowerMizerMode=1" /usr/bin/nvidia-settings -a "[gpu:0]/GPUMemoryTransferRateOffset[3]=400" -a "[gpu:0]/GPUGraphicsClockOffset[3]=100" That's for a single GPU. If more than one GPU expand it like so: #!/bin/bash /usr/bin/nvidia-smi -pm 1 /usr/bin/nvidia-smi -acp UNRESTRICTED /usr/bin/nvidia-smi -i 0 -pl 160 /usr/bin/nvidia-settings -a "[gpu:0]/GPUPowerMizerMode=1" /usr/bin/nvidia-settings -a "[gpu:1]/GPUPowerMizerMode=1" /usr/bin/nvidia-settings -a "[gpu:0]/GPUMemoryTransferRateOffset[3]=400" -a "[gpu:0]/GPUGraphicsClockOffset[3]=100" /usr/bin/nvidia-settings -a "[gpu:1]/GPUMemoryTransferRateOffset[3]=400" -a "[gpu:1]/GPUGraphicsClockOffset[3]=100" /usr/bin/nvidia-settings -a "[gpu:0]/GPUFanControlState=1" -a " Use [3] for Pascal (e.g. GTX 1080) and [4] for Turing (e.g. RTX 2080). I'm not sure about this parameter. My 2080s run fine with [3]. If someone understands this parameter please illuminate us. Then make the script executable: sudo chmod +x BOINC_PL.sh Then run coolbits once the first time to enable it: sudo nvidia-xconfig -a --cool-bits=28 --allow-empty-initial-configuration You can look in the config and scroll down to make sure it took: sudo xed /etc/X11/xorg.conf There should be a Section that looks like this: Section "Screen" Identifier "Screen0" Device "Device0" Monitor "Monitor0" DefaultDepth 24 Option "AllowEmptyInitialConfiguration" "True" Option "Coolbits" "28" SubSection "Display" Depth 24 EndSubSection EndSection If you find a more energy efficient set of parameters please share. ![]() ...KRI please cancel all shadow-banning |

I don't know why Americans so easily seem to confuse the Netherlands and Denmark. ![]() Another good example of lingual confusion is Jeff Bridges’ 1996 starring film, White Squall. In this high seas story centered around a final climactic storm scene with a group of young men aboard a windjammer, the bunch encounters a group of 'Dutch' girls, speaking Danish, not Dutch (emphasis mine), to whom they play host to for a short while, after which they also have to get shots for STD’s. There are not many Dutch people that speak Danish (a Scandinavian language). German, a (West) Germanic language , comes much, much closer to Dutch, also a West Germanic language, as Dutch has been positioned to be between English (which is also a West Germanic language) and German. ![]() |

Hello clock cycle volunteers,
Back to the topic the OP had in mind...it is early Sept in the southeast US and soon the A/C in our office will be turned off for the year. THEN I can fire back up the offline machines that I dedicate to this project...sorry, I'm happy to donate clock cycles but I don't really want to pay for the additional air conditioning here in the office too. |
