Re: Mandatory "Request for Project to be Ported to GPU" Thread

Yes, an update would be nice.
Last thing we heard was that they had received the code just over 2 weeks ago.

Re: Mandatory "Request for Project to be Ported to GPU" Thread

Why is a thread to request a project be ported to GPU mandatory?

WCG has had only one GPU project in the last 12 years. If the researchers thought GPUs would be helpful, I would think GPUs would be already supported.

All of the GPU discusssions on these forums is quite tiring to scroll through. There should be a sticky or something to limit these threads.

There are several other non-WCG projects focusing on COVID-19 that support GPUs. Folding@home being the most popular.

Just my 2 cents.

  • i5-3330 (Ivy Bridge, 4C/4T) @ 3.0 GHz

Re: Mandatory "Request for Project to be Ported to GPU" Thread

Agrfan,

I think the title was sort of a joke because of all the "can we get GPU support, it's so much better, etc" posts over the years.

OPN1 will support GPU's, the researchers have developed an AutoDock CUDA and OpenCL app, we just need to wait for WCG to look at the code that they have already received. Then follow Alpha, Beta tests, etc.

AFAIK, currently none.
Wait for OPN.

Re: Mandatory "Request for Project to be Ported to GPU" Thread

Thanks. That is what I thought, but a few posts back someone said there were several. I am doing folding@home, but the projects are not stable. I am getting very odd errors that I don't with other AMD GPU tasks (which unfortunately, are not COVID-19)

Don't know which post, but with AMD support, Folding@home is the only one I can think of right.

Quarantine@home is Nvidia only. And other than that, I don't think there are GPU projects working on SARS-CoV-2.
