Re: Error

Courtesy of failing at a _2 with this -1 error, the previous 2 also failing, my host has been relegated too back to unreliable and needing 10-20 wingman validated results before it's allowed to go it alone again. 10-20 redundant results. The 4th host with _3, a Linux Ubuntu this time is about to befall the same faith within seconds from starting.

Recommendation: If you happen to see a _1 or higher before starting and _0 had this error, just abort. This wont affect reliability and accelerates this bad seed to be removed from the cycle.

Re: Error

Retsof

Yours appears to be a new issue.

Mike

Once the machine settled down to run 6 threads only out of 12, I haven't seen any more errors. This AMD Ryzen is 3 times faster than my other machines, and is finishing an open Pandemic in about an hour...55 to 65 minutes.

SOLVED

I think I fixed the error problem.
I went into the bios and looked around. A game boost was set. I think it had made the threads a bit unstable. I have seen that in the past, where overclocking can do that, since these are calculation intensive. All I had to do was to turn that off, and about everything else is set to AUTO. With CPU set to 100% it downloaded more and is now running all 12 threads. The elapsed time looks like it might be 10-20% longer than boosted but that's OK. It is still only a little more than an hour.

Re: Error

Well done. That 10% could represent some sort of capacity issue but it is within acceptability range.

Re: Error

Has anyone analysed what system requirements are needed for opn1? My 8 threads are running 1 arp1 & 7 opn1 quite happily but I have 20 GB RAM. Mike
I use an app_config for WCG:
<app_config>
<app>
<name>arp1</name>
<!-- needs 1 GB RAM per arp1 WU -->
<!-- Xeon E5-2686v4 18c36t 32 GB L3 Cache = 45 MB -->
<max_concurrent>13</max_concurrent>
</app>
<app>
<name>mip1</name>
<!-- needs 5 MB L3 cache per mip1 WU -->
<max_concurrent>9</max_concurrent>
</app>
</app_config>

OPN uses 180 MB RAM or less so need to worry about it. Adding even a single ARP WU noticeably slows the CPU but it still runs fine. If you use BoincTasks it has a Tasks/memory column that says how much WU is using.

Re: Error

Thanks,Aurum420. I also use app_config but with only the name and max_concurrent lines.
