Making Linux setup a little easier...

To make Linux set up a little easier I open the window with the instructions ( WCG download page ). Then I opened the terminal in a box right under it.

I put the top of the terminal box just under the first line of instructions. After doing that line, I moved it to just under the second line and so forth.

This might seem a little obvious, but it makes getting the instruction right much easier as in Linux a typo will blow the whole line/command. In the instructions the ctrl is easily mistaken for ctr1. It is C-T-R-L in lower case.

This is the only Linux command you need to set up BOINC:
sudo apt install boinc-client boinc-manager
Click on BOINC and then join WCG.
I just looked at that long list for the first time. Maybe that's designed for folks in an enterprise setting, e.g. at your desk at IBM.

Re: Making Linux setup a little easier...

Only if BOINC is in the distro's repository. You can always add the appropriate PPA such as this one by the Debian/Ubuntu package maintainer https://launchpad.net/~costamagnagianfranco/+archive/ubuntu/boinc
Whether that will run on your flavor of Linux is for you to find out.
