I was looking at my results status last night, mainly at how many OpenPandemic workloads were pending (that has cleared up a lot today) I had 5 pages of pendings, and I went to the last page and noticed a few that had been pending for a week, and one that was at 8 days. Those were MCM, not OPN. Are people downloading work and then not doing it, but not also cancelling? Then it times out and boincs to someone else and they don't do it either. Or maybe everyone has switched to OPN1 and other projects will stay pending forever.
----------------------------------------Just wanted to rant, and this didn't fit in any project in particular. Thanks for listening. [Edit 1 times, last edit by zxcvbob at May 17, 2020 6:23:32 PM] |

There's a lot of ranting going on without reading at that ;o). Yes happens to the best, can take 14-16 days, that's the longest I've ever observed, but then stopped looking, eventually they're taken care of, at times pushed by techs to reliable hosts if they want to conclude a batch that is squatting in place.

Related issue, but different project, that's why I stopped running ARP work units.
Burning 10 to 13hrs per job and then having 20% of them sitting in Pending Validation for 1wk which often turns into 2wks as the confirmation is passed to another user, who sits on it forever . . . Macromancer |

That shouldn't bother you since the work will get done.
----------------------------------------Now here's something that would be really annoying if you were 20 hours into an ARP or HST WU and got a Server Abort. I got 2 Server Aborts for OPN today, but as they say stuff happens: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/...us.do?workunitId=92204950 https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/...us.do?workunitId=92253372 ![]() ...KRI please cancel all shadow-banning[Edit 1 times, last edit by Aurum420 at May 17, 2020 6:07:24 PM] |

Not a second of conputing time was spent on either, server aborted because they became redundant before starting is what your links tell me.

Just my 2 cents worth... so long as I get the credit for the invested time/effort and the result is successful, it makes no difference if the WU clears in one day or 2 weeks.

CJSL Crunching for a better world... I don't care all *that* much if I get credit for the crunching or not. (I care a little and don't know why) I haven't figured out where I can cash in my 126 million plus points. (what's the exchange rate anyway, in S&H Green Stamps?) ;) I guess I care in that I don't want to see effort, especially volunteer effort, wasted. If it's credited eventually but just takes a while, that's annoying but okay. |

I don't think your scenario would happen. I think the Server Abort should not happen as long as your unit has reached a checkpoint. Mip might be possible where there is a long time to first checkpoint, but arp would be limited to, say 2 hours loss. Mike |

I really don't give a rat's behind about the points, as indicated in one of my previous posts . I guess we all have to put up with each of our own individual pet peeves . Luck to all.CJSL Crunching and.. What, me worry? |
