I rejoined to crunch for the Covid90 project. The BOINC project quota is set to 100 when you start. Normally, I leave new projects at 100 until I amhappy that they are not causing any problems when I set them up to 200 to run in parallel with the other projects on each machine. Where is the quota at wcg, the normal BOINC pages are not obvious.

If you mean daily or buffer, no such 'quota' other then a reliability limit, cause enough errors and it goes down to 1 per day, else crunch all you can.
At science level you can set a selection of 1-64 and unlimited in the device profile, click custom radio bottom then scroll towards bottom. The overall 'buffer' limit set by WCG is something like 70 per core with a maximum of 1000 per device. |

On the BOINC Manager "Projects" tab the value I refer too as quota is called "Resource share".

Jeepers, it's called Project Weight here and should show in your profile as default 100.

On here go to Settings, Device Manager, Device Profiles and then click on the Profile, usually Default.

Thanks Sir Clark "Ni" to you!.
----------------------------------------lavaflow, yes, so I see, and I have changed it, why should THIS project do everything differently from normal BOINC projects. Great way to confuse BOINC old timers huh? [Edit 1 times, last edit by adrianxw at May 15, 2020 10:03:44 AM] |

WCG has always aimed to stand apart from the rest. There's a 'conversion' table somewhere in community help forum laying out some half dozen items as how they're called here and how they're called everywhere else, and everywhere else has changed some too for some to add to the head scratching.

Presnting a known front enables newcomers to a project to quickly and easily get started and acheive what it is they wish to acheive. I remember now why I dropped wcg from my systems. I'll crunch the Covid19 because it needs to be crunched though.

I'll crunch the Covid19 because it needs to be crunched though. I actually think it's refreshing to have WCG's layout different from other projects. It is a much 'cleaner' look. Other projects' layouts are merely functional. WCG's is both functional and nice-looking. I don't believe that this should be the deciding factor to sway you towards or away from a specific project, though. Chris |
