I have multiple units that keeps restarting. Part of the error logs is pasted below.
----------------------------------------When I first encountered this 2 weeks ago, I did a project reset and removed MCM from my project selection. There were no issues. I enabled MCM again and the error came back. Not all MCM work units have the same issue. 04/30/20 07:39:58 | World Community Grid | Task MCM1_0162659_1937_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 04/30/20 07:39:58 | World Community Grid | If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 04/30/20 07:42:18 | World Community Grid | Task MCM1_0162659_4868_0 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 04/30/20 07:42:18 | World Community Grid | If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 04/30/20 07:42:57 | World Community Grid | Task MCM1_0162685_8156_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 04/30/20 07:42:57 | World Community Grid | If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 04/30/20 07:43:37 | World Community Grid | Task MCM1_0162685_6119_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 04/30/20 07:43:37 | World Community Grid | If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 04/30/20 07:45:38 | World Community Grid | Task MCM1_0162659_1937_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 04/30/20 07:45:38 | World Community Grid | If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 04/30/20 07:46:18 | World Community Grid | Task MCM1_0162659_4868_0 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 04/30/20 07:46:18 | World Community Grid | If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 04/30/20 07:47:58 | World Community Grid | Task MCM1_0162685_6119_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 04/30/20 07:47:58 | World Community Grid | If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 04/30/20 07:48:18 | World Community Grid | Task MCM1_0162685_8156_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 04/30/20 07:48:18 | World Community Grid | If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 04/30/20 07:49:37 | World Community Grid | Task MCM1_0162659_1937_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 04/30/20 07:49:37 | World Community Grid | If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. Do the jobs actually gain computing time?
----------------------------------------Without knowing, it may be your AV software is killing them, and given the through history ever returning possibility of false positives, better exclude the entire BOINC datadir from scanning. It's safe as BOINC itself does file housekeeping for integrity. Edit: The usual locations of the data directory are in this wiki https://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/BOINC_Data_directory [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at May 1, 2020 11:04:54 AM] |

For those that I did not abort, I've traced through the logs and found that although it completes and gets uploaded, it ends up being reported as error. However, for the same wu, I see that it completes successfully for others. So, it must be me.
This only surfaced recently and I've been using the same AV product all this while. Anyway, I'll test out the suggestion on excluding the data directory. Thank you for your help. |
