I have upgraded to the new version of it ( 7 16 5 ) and now I am getting this :
----------------------------------------15/04/2020 14:28:29 | World Community Grid | Project requested delay of 121 seconds Why is it doing this every time it asks for new work? ![]() |

That is a normal message for a behavior that has always been around. All BOINC schedulers tell the clients to "back off" for a certain period of time after it contacts the server. This is to avoid client requests overwhelming the server with repeated requests in certain situations.

What is the difference if any between the most recent updated version of BOINC, & the World Community Grid version? If nothing else, I don't like the different WCG skin that was included & inadvertently installed & the way it was included & that I'm finding it such trouble removing it & would like to remove the WCG skin. If needed, I'll delete any WCG projects. I already have 10 projects running, including Folding@Home. Thank you.

you don't have to delete WCG or it's projects. Just Suspend your processing under Activity tab (advanced view). Delete the WCG program. Install the new BOINC program and then Resume your processing under Activity tab.

Vaguely, there was an installation issue when switching between the WCG and the Berkeley build when at the same time changing from 64 bit to 32 bit, but if that is still the case, don't know. If you do, best is to first uninstall old version, not 'delete', then install the new one.
----------------------------------------If you want to switch and still have work units from before, make sure that during installation the new version points at the old BOINC data directory. This is done under the installer advanced options screen. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Apr 16, 2020 8:01:53 AM] |
