One of the volunteer developers has opened ticket 3606,

Cilent: Default Log Flags Not Set At Startup.

Boils down to if there is no cc_config.xml in the BOINC data directory at all, the standard file_xfer, sched_ops and task entries go missing from the event log.

Solution is to create a cc_config.xml file ascii text file with standard opening and closing lines

Restart client (not clear if a simple read-in of the config through the interface will do the same)
