I haven't seen this before! My new laptop slows down when I'm not using it! WUs takes twice as long or more to complete! No, laptop is not going to sleep or hibernating!

... BUT, the CPU could still cycle down when you're not at the keyboard for longer to save energy i.e. you need to look at the advanced/additional power/performance settings and power mode which access you find at the right side of the Power & Sleep screen of Windows 10 (which is assumed for lack of any OS information).

Does not sound like you did go into the high performance advanced power settings, high performance options minimum and maximum power state.

Because I don't have those high performance options.

You need to click harder. Open any profile with the advanced power options and a screen appears where at top you can change the profile type, Power Saver, Balanced, High Performance. Don't have that new 'Ultimate' though.
----------------------------------------Edit: Courtesy of the tip below now have Ultimate too under the "show additional plans" https://www.auslogics.com/en/articles/turn-on...ormance-power-plan-win10/ Note: This option may not appear under this section if you are using a laptop. I haven't installed that Windows update. |

My Windows Settings:
-----------------------------------------Closing the Lid does nothing -Power Button does nothing -Sleeps After: Never -Screen turns off after: ~5 minutes try those. I also tend to throttle the max speed for heat reasons ![]() |
