Re: Are there any tricks to grabbing Beta Testing Work Units?

I am thinking out loud here, after looking at the WCG system reqs. Wouldnt different Beta WUs be sent to a Windows machine, a Linux machine, a Mac, and an Android device? Perhaps they even test them on different versions of these systems, and different CPUs? A trick that might work... if you have have multiple machines laying around. Running different platforms, CPUs and system versions might increase your chances of picking up Beta WUs.

Re: Are there any tricks to grabbing Beta Testing Work Units?

Glen,

Your thought is interesting, however with the random sampling of our members, we get a pretty good cross section of devices and operating systems. Sometimes, on beta we run for a specific OS, but this was for all available.

Thanks,

Re: Are there any tricks to grabbing Beta Testing Work Units?

Currently, I am running a 6-thread Windows computer, and 3 Linux computers with a total of 44 threads. The Windows computer has a newer and faster processor, so the turnover is pretty fast.

I have noticed that usually work units from different projects appear at different times, even if all the device profiles a pulling from the same projects. In other words, I may get more ARP one day on the Windows computer, or more FAH2 work units one day on the Linux computers.

But that may be as much a function of the timing of the work requests, as it is of the OS involved.

And I haven't been lucky enough to pull a Beta Testing wu on either platform in some time. It's not a big deal, maybe next round...

I am a newbie, since June 28, 2020. Looking forward to receiving more work and maybe even a Beta.

Don't totally fill up the queue or you will get nothing. Use the
Settings / Device Manager / Device Profile
to give a specific number for each project you are running. Definitely put enough in there so you can last for a day or two in case there are problems.
We just got some MCM betas, and I got one for each thread I am running.
