I'm not really into Windoze these days, but isn't there an install option to have it run as a daemon (system task)?

Apis's hint sounds familiar but does anyone know the specific steps to make it so???

Yes, but it is hidden behind an "advanced" or "personalized" choice that you must select in the first screen of the installation procedure. Not very clever in my opinion. Since this is the most transparent way of running BOINC I think it would be more useful to offer it (with proper explanation of its purpose) in that first screen. Even not being a BOINC beginner I hesitated to select this "advanced" option the last time I installed it on a "plain user's" new machine. |

If you run Windows beware that when running as a service Boinc will not be able to detect your GPU. Macs are no problem. Linux may take additional configuration.

Thanks JM and Delta..
----------------------------------------I agree it should be the default setting since when I was starting out I had some spare computers downstairs in the basement that I did not monitor. Lost over 3 days of crunching due to Windows update. Delta since WCG is not releasing an GPU work it is a non issue for now but thanks for the heads up. ![]() ![]() |
