confused Screensaver?

Has anyone seen the screensaver for this? I've received so few workunits and only on PCs that just run as a service. My PC is the only one with a screensaver.

Does anyone have screenshots?

Re: Screensaver?

A single static picture of what looks like broccoli growing in Africa plus a progress bar. That's it.

Edit: Many of the project screensaver pics were posted to Help, but not this project, noting the ARP has no Project Details tab on the Research page either.

Re: Screensaver?

BTW, you can display a small window with the screensaver if you select the running task in boinc manager and then click on the button above the buttton for suspending the task. German UI is "Grafik anzeigen", english might be something like "Display graphics". But I don't know if this works with service installations, too.

Re: Screensaver?

In English it is 'Show Graphics'.

I would comment, though, that the idea of a screensaver was to prevent burn-out of parts of the screen, so this cannot be considered as a screensaver because it is static and covers the whole screen.

Re: Screensaver?

I agree with static graphics making no sense as a screensaver. Just wondering if screensavers in general are important for todays computer displays? Old school monitors with high voltage tube, plasma and OLED displays might have issues here. LCD and LED should have no issues here anyway

Re: Screensaver?

They serve more of a minor security purpose as a "Lock Screen" to password protect the user session than to prevent burn-in of most LCD screens. Some LCD panels (including newer OLEDs) are still susceptible to burn-in over many hours. The VESA power-down saves electricity and money, so that's better for truly "saving the screen."
