I don't want to raise the ire of WCG techs, and I don't have my bronze badge yet so am loathe to say too much, but there does indeed seem to be a certain point past the hour when it is advantageous to issue an update request. This was obvious to me once I got a very few WUs, so I should think it likely that others will see it too. Maybe someone will confirm this, and maybe even say more. Or maybe I've just been lucky. Well, duh. BOINCTasks records the "received time" of all tasks, and this information was just staring me in the face all along. They seem to be running the ARP1 work generator on a 30-minute cron, so jobs appear to be being created twice an hour, 30 minutes apart. That doesn't necessarily mean they're doing this EVERY hour. They may very well have criteria they need to meet before creating new workunits, such as having sufficient disk space. I believe they said this was the limitation that was keeping the flow of tasks down to a trickle. So, yes, there's two times each hour when you should be looking for tasks, but there probably aren't always tasks available at those times. I need one more task to meet my badge goal, and I'll give it a shot at the next window of opportunity and see if it works. |

Well, despite me having only received 4 WU's between 2 machines, I've just chucked 2 of those back in the pot - as I know that I wouldn't get around to completing them before their deadline was due (it'd even be 'touch and go' as to whether they'd start in time - as I've still got a shed-load of Zika to get through).
----------------------------------------Thus, whoever received them, enjoy |

I' have enough tasks now for my meager goals, but this information should be helpful to those trying to get more tasks. |

Was getting a few per day but now nothing for 2days on Linux host. Still getting an occasional one on windoze.
----------------------------------------It is what it is. EDIT: Wouldn’t ya know it. Just got a couple for Linux.

I got one unit on Nov.2. Nothing since then, and it isn't validated yet so the project doesn't appear on the "My Contribution" page.

But Richard feels important when he gets his badges first.

2 valid, 4 pending, and 4 in progress.
----------------------------------------The last 2 were 18 hours since I was plugging away at other tasks. As long as they are getting done within 1 day of 7, I don't feel bad. EDIT: So, like 14 done, and only 4 pending validation. GOOD JOB WING(WO)MEN [Edit 2 times, last edit by Jack007 at Nov 5, 2019 6:59:02 PM] |

It looks like they're releasing batches of wu's around 8 minutes after the hour & half hour. If you set a cron job or scheduled task, you can enter your requests at that time.
Good luck crunching! |
