The highest cell for which I've received a generation 142 task is 31805; (workunit 694596071), generated at 10:54 UTC.
----------------------------------------I also received 31767 (workunit 694596098) and 31763 (workunit 694596082), (also generated at 10:54), and 31796 (workunit 694595010), generated at 10:50 UTC. I note that the cell numbers are not in the same order as the WU IDs -- not that surprising, really; I wonder if the correlation between cell numbers and WU IDs within generations will break down completely before we reach the last generation :-) Cheers - Al. Again no movement of extremes. There are 318, all of which appear to be stuck.
No accelerated units validated. 1 is now in generation 136. I think that it is the only accelerated moving out of 442. If anyone has it, please expedite it. 522 normals validated yesterday. There are now 7,968 normals in the generations being released, many of which may be stuck, particularly in generations 137 to 141. There are now 26,333 held up in generation 143,whjch may start to be released soon as we are now about 91% of the way through generation 142. There has been an increase in downloads but the well seems to be dry now. Mike |

Should a separate "highest WU" type thread be started for ARP ?? It would work a bit different as it would cycle back to a low number now and then.

Include the generation number as part it. eg. 142, 143, 144 etc

I admit that we are somewhat ignorant to the tracking of ARP1 work units. Could someone provide a link to the description of what we are doing by tracking them or provide a summary? We see a good amount of ARP1 work units and are happy to provide whatever information that could be helpful, but we are wondering what exactly we can share that can be of help.
Thanks! |

I'll give this a try. Mike can correct me if I get something wrong.
The current way they are releasing ARP WUs is from the lowest generation to the highest generation (because we asked for this because it is an iterative process) Thus we can track where we are in each generation (sort of) as there are 35608 possible grid squares (not all are in the same generation, but we can use the total as a rough guess of the fraction we have done) . Thus when JohnSmythe posts 32298 we can see we are closer to the finish of the 142 generation and that they will probably start releasing gen 143 soon. This lets us see how many WU are lost or left behind. None of this is majorly important, just a fun way for us to track the progress through this project. |

What is the difference between "extreme", "accelerated", etc? Thanks |

For reference here is the link to the generations file https://download.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc/download/arp1_stats/state.txt
Each generation is formed from the results of the previous generation. This is why we asked WCG to release the lower generations first if they couldn't release all of them at once. Currently the max generation that any grid square has hit is 146. Anything more than 10 generations lagging from the leader (136 right now) is Accelerated and it gets a shorter due date and only goes to "reliable" machines. If it is even further lagging (130 or lower - right now) it is considered extreme and 3 copies of the WU is sent to start, plus all of the accelerated rules. The definitions of which generations are in extreme or accelerated categories depends on the highest generation done so far. It is a measure of how far a grid square in a certain generation is lagging behind the leader and how it needs more effort to help it keep up with the pack. Here you can see how many are in each generation and which ones have moved. https://download.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc...rp1_stats/generations.txt |
