To those interested in the ARP1 status text files...
In an earlier post I said I'd taken a snapshot and would try to spot any changes... Well, a snapshot taken at about 00:15 UTC on 18th July had different numbers so the relevant script(s) seem to still run -- sorry, entity :-) In summary, the following unit generation transitions appear to have taken place in the interval between the snapshots (one at about 17:45 UTC on 16th, the other 30.5 hours later: 1 unit from 110 to 111 The numbers make sense as it seems the majority of tasks sent out were for generation 125, and only a limited proportion of them will have had two successful results returned to date (I have one out of 8 validated so far...) I haven't yet established when the files get updated, so I have no idea how out of step the above might be because of my sample times -- I'll try to collect more samples to find out (unless someone who reads this knows when the script was supposed to run...) So I think the above only reflects one only day's information, but can't be sure. I wonder how long it will take Robert Coplin's generation 11 work unit to get validated :-) Cheers - Al. P.S. I might have a look at automating the analysis I did above (which used downloads, UNIX diff and the Mark One Eyeball!) but not at present... |

Thank you Mark for the links to the scripts and Thank you Alan for checking that they are still working. I'm looking forward to when can seriously move this project forward.

My 011 work unit has already been validated on July 17 at 19:10 UTC as that was one of my wingman returned in their work unit Robert,Thanks for the information. I presume its progress to generation 12 will show up in Kevin's generations file when the work unit is assimilated some time in the next 24..48 hours. I'll keep an eye out for it! Cheers - Al. I'll try to collect more samples to find out (unless someone who reads this knows when the script was supposed to run...)... Al,Many thanks for doing this. Knreed said that the scripts were designed to run once a day at 12:05 UTC. See his posts on this page. Cheers, Mark |

Al, Mark,Many thanks for doing this. Knreed said that the scripts were designed to run once a day at 12:05 UTC. See his posts on this page. Cheers, Mark Thanks for that - I couldn't remember whether we'd ever been told the time -- I can turn off my half-hourly "monitor" script :-) and can now "interpret" the data more precisely! Cheers - Al. |

With max_generation = 120, my device received a couple of Extreme tasks:

Well, a snapshot taken at about 00:15 UTC on 18th July had different numbers so the relevant script(s) seem to still run -- sorry, entity :-) Like I said, pure blind luck. I figured if Kevin buried those in the DB and/or server configuration(like a stored procedure for example) they would have been copied over with everything else. I would also submit that Krembil probably doesn't know they are running, what they are for, or how to interpret the results. When ARP ends, those scripts will continue to run logging errors somewhere I'm sure. |

On the subject of Extreme work units (as per Adri's post above, for which thanks...)
I've currently got ARP1_0033553_111_2 which was issued around 12:30 UTC today (so no replies at the time of writing!) I also returned a generation 109 task that got off to a worrying start but eventually validated: workunit 152523528 -- snapshot below taken at 19:50 UTC on 18th July; the _4 task was mine. Time due / CPU This one only accumulated two non-success outcomes, but I wonder how many other "Extreme" WUs might hit a higher number of non-success results for one reason or another during this partial restart and end up stalled again - only time will tell... Cheers - Al. |
