Re: Welcome to the Africa Rainfall Project

I have 1.80 and it's not vanished, just 1 right-click away.

It requires the Checkpoint column be turned on. Got it back now.

I just manually suspended 5 ARP1 WUs and I noticed that when the progress bar says 75.0% it had yet to make the checkpoint as evidenced by the CPU times in the Properties popup.
Edit: I tried "Suspend at Checkpoint" and it just kept on running and did not suspend at 75%. I manually suspended it at 76.4%.

Re: Welcome to the Africa Rainfall Project

Fantastic!!! Take the challenge:
African Rainfall - Oct
African Rainfall - Nov

I went back to the Team I made in 2010, just so I could join this challenge! I don't know if the 2 I'm going to finish in a couple hours will count in Oct or Nov, but that's ok. I wonder if after returning 2 wu, if next time it will give me more. I'm running these two and gaming no problem, I set it for 5 wus, I read that that was the max.

BoincTasks seems to not check WUs selected for "Suspend at checkpoint" as often as it refreshes the list. Instead it seems to check them "periodically". I often see WUs getting suspended while displaying up to 2 minutes since last checkpoint.

It seems we have to be patient if we use this very useful feature instead of doing the job ourselves. smile

Re: Welcome to the Africa Rainfall Project

I tried the BoincTasks Suspend at Checkpoint again but this time 1.5 hours in advance. It just kept right on going and they're now over an hour passed the last checkpoint.
Does Suspend at Checkpoint work for anybody???

Re: Welcome to the Africa Rainfall Project

I've been using BoincTasks foe years, and have tried to use the Suspend at Checkpoint several times through the years after updating to newer versions.
It has never worked as far as i know. But it has been a while sense I've tried it.

Re: Welcome to the Africa Rainfall Project

Ok, so here's a question.
The work unit graphic is quite dull,
unless those plants are really trees then it would be kinda cool in a Jurassic Park kinda way :D
Just wondering if you could make a video of one of these work units after they are complete, or even a months worth, to see the rain/clouds as it moves. Not in the graphic but like in the news section or somewhere pasted ez to find.

Re: Welcome to the Africa Rainfall Project

Mine currently works on XP at version 1.78 but it did go through a period when it did not.
Not sure whether a BT update fixed it or something else.
It does take a minute or 2 to act and this may depend on other CPU load.
Currently managing 4 Linux and 2 Windows PCs.

Paul.

Re: Welcome to the Africa Rainfall Project

I think I just saw something strange happen to my ARP WUs on one computer. Due to the dearth of ARP WUs I'm time slicing with Universe. When it switched back to WCG my 9 ARP1 WUs all snapped back to their previous checkpoints: five to 7/8s, one to 6/8s, and three to 4/8s.
This is a very wasteful project. It will run better if the ONLY project running is ARP as does FAH2.
IBM: When will you run at full speed???
