I too have a few challenges getting these WUs done inside of 24 hours each time. Generally if I'm going over the 24 hour time limit, but it looks like I'm going to get done in the next hour or two, I'll let the WU run to completion since probably 90-95% of the time I'll get done before the WU kicked off on another computer gets done. But if it looks like I'll be running longer than that, I generally just abort the WU, get the next one and do better next time.
Yes this may seem a waste of computer time to do this, but that is how things are set up. Such is life .... I can't complain about those things I don't have control over. |

You have more than 48 hours to finish the task after its reception and still get rewarded.Yes this may seem a waste of computer time to do this, but that is how things are set up. Such is life .... As lavaflow said in a recent message: "Just finish the job". You have more than 48 hours to finish the task after its reception and still get rewarded. You're right of course, except for the 48 hours, but you should also keep in mind that someone will lose either way. If you see you won't make it before the deadline, you can abort the task, void your work and lose the credits. Or you can return your result after the deadline, probably get your credits but waste someone else's work. Personally I hate to see when I'm doing work that someone else already did, just not in time.(By the way, are there no attributions on this forum?) |

As lavaflow said in a recent message: "Just finish the job". You have more than 48 hours to finish the task after its reception and still get rewarded. You're right of course, except for the 48 hoursLet's say you receive a task at 12 o'clock. You'll have to return it by 12 o'clock the next day. If you don't, a resend is issued (at 12 o'clock) 24 hours after its reception on your computer. Let's suppose the resent task is finished after 4 hours by your wingman. After its validation, the result will be available on the Results Status page for another 24 hours and then deleted. So all in all you will have 24 + 4 + 24 hours to return the task after its reception on your computer. That's how I understand how it works at WCG. Please tell me I'm wrong if it doesn't work like that. [Edit 2 times, last edit by adriverhoef at Nov 18, 2019 9:13:24 AM] |

I know from other projects that you have to return a result before any (valid) replacement to be credited and I assumed this was the same at WCG. However WCG Help states that you may receive credit until one day after the original deadline. That gives you a maximum of 48 hours unless there are further restrictions. |

I've had several times with these WUs on this project where if I went more than 3 hours past the deadline, quite often I find the other computer kicked off at my 24 hr mark has completed the WU for the credit. So if I go further than 2-3 hours past the 24 hr mark, I find I'm better off aborting my work and starting with a new one.
