Device Profile Options

When editing a device profile, in the projects section, the options are to select one or more projects individually, select ALL or select NONE. If you select NONE, it blanks out all project selections. If you try to save the profile, a message is displayed that says ..at least one project must be selected". If there is a requirement that at least one project must be selected, why is NONE offered as an option?

Re: Device Profile Options

Looks like the intend was to facilitate the quick clearing of all boxes. Saving a profile without any project selected actually does not make sense, albeit, if you'd like to stop contributing it would be a quick way to cease rather than going through a whole fleet and set them to no-new-work, to include devices that are not immediately accessible.

Re: Device Profile Options

What I wanted to do was create a default profile that would be attached to newly created clients but I didn't want the clients to download anything. After they are attached and the preferences are setup correctly, I would add them to one of the other profiles.
When you first attach to a project, it starts downloading work based on the default profile which isn't always desirable.

I have done this more times than I can remember. Being much older and a little wiser I now try to make sure the profile that is set to be the default is setup the way I want. However many times in the past I have had to abort hundreds of undesirable workunits. I have learned that aborting workunits can be cathartic, and have grown to not be too ashamed of it. Back when HST1 workunits were plentiful I once aborted over 1500 of them.
